Busy Day!

Today is scarf day. We are "Wrapped Up in Good Writing" today!

We got the torch today! Every day Ms. Davis picks a class to have the torch that she saw having good behavior in the hall the day before.

Christa was the line leader and got to carry the torch first.

We had a special assembly today. One of the Harlem Globetrotters came! Hollywood talked to us about being honest and respectful. We really liked seeing his tricks. Jose and Madison got to help him with some stunts.

Here is our class with Hollywood.

Let's Get Measuring!

This week since we are in the middle of testing we are jazzing up our days by not doing much pencil and paper work. We are going to formally start measurement next week and did a bit of exploring this week. Here we are on Wednesday at math stations. We had different items to measure and measure with.

Tornado Drill and More Dental Health

First thing this morning we had a tornado drill. This week is Severe Weather Week so we talked about what severe weather is and why we need to know what to do when it comes our way.

We read the tale of Curious George Goes to the Dentist today. We talked about what happens when you go to the dentist and what to expect. No one in our class is scared!

Let the testing begin!

We will begin the Metropolitan Readiness Test on Wednesday. We will test Thursday and Friday also. Make sure you are on time to school, sleep good the night before, and eat a good breakfast.

Happy Valentine's!

Today was a busy day. We had art, counseling, a science visitor, and of course, our Valentine's celebration!

This is Miss Sara. She comes from the high school to our class to help with anything we need. She's helped us put together projects, learn to write our names and numbers and lots of other good stuff. Thanks Miss Sara!
We had art this morning. We made a heart that featured lots of the kinds of lines we've learned about with Mrs. Key.
Mrs. Young from AMSTI came today. She is the science specialist who comes periodically to teach us neat stuff. Today we learned about leaves and what their job is. And what is their job? "TO MAKE TREE FOOD!"

Our Valentine bags we made
Passing out Valentines
Our special snack! Yum!

First Semester Slide Show

Here are some pictures from our first semester at Banks-Caddell.

Valentine's Party

We will be observing Valentine's Day on Friday, February 13.

If you wish to send Valentines or treats, please be sure to

send enough for the entire class. We have 18 students and

will have our special snack about 1:45.

Shadows and Dental Health Month

This month is Dental Health Month. Today we read Trevor's Wiggly Wobbly Tooth by Lester Laminack. Its about a kid named Trevor who has a real time losing his first tooth and joining the Missing Tooth Club in his class. After we read the book we looked at how many of us had "missing tooth smiles" and talked about what the tooth fairy does with our teeth when she gets them.

Alex wrote that the Tooth Fairy uses his teeth for the "candy store."

Zamarah wrote that the Tooth Fairy uses her teeth for her treasure chest.

Sumari wrote that the Tooth Fairy uses her teeth for her castle.

Our very own Missing Tooth Club!

We are learning about shadows in our reading unit. We've read several stories and poems about them and today we went outside to trace our shadows on the sidewalk. Hooray for warmer weather!

Guest Readers and Finally, Playground Time!

Today we had some special visitors from Central Baptist. They are a special friend to Banks-Caddell and do lots of things for our school. They come to read to our classes and bring special treats for us. On this day the readers came and brought us Valentines!

Its been too cold to go outside the past couple of months so we were very excited about this warm day! We went outside for recess and look at all the fun we had!

Let's Get Started!

Hello!

I have finally gotten around to starting this (I meant to start it back in August). I am going to put a slideshow of the things we have done at BC to this point. I will try my best to update regularly (2-3 times a week). This should be an additional way to keep up with what we are doing in our class and at school. Please check it often, share it with your children, and give feedback when you see something you like!

Thanks so very much!
Mrs. Lee
